Flint, Michigan Lead Crisis
In August of 2015, Elin played a critical role in uncovering the Flint Water Crisis by convincing Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha, a Flint pediatrician, to conduct a study that discovered elevated lead levels in children living in Flint, Michigan. Safe Water Engineering has continued to provide Flint support in the background, analyzing source water quality changes in the community and working on state policy to prevent another Flint Water Crisis (see Michigan Water Policy). All of these resources have been written or contributed to by Safe Water Engineering.
