In October 2023, Michigan took a pioneering step by mandating that all schools and childcare facilities provide drinking water to students and staff using filter stations certified for removing lead from drinking water, making it the first state in the nation to do so. This initiative aims to ensure reliable, sustainable access to safe drinking water, minimizing lead exposure and promoting the well-being of all students and staff at all times. Safe Water Engineering, LLC provides technical assistance to help schools and school districts complete startup activities and achieve ongoing compliance with the new Filter First requirements.
