Washington, DC
As a Washington, DC resident and EPA employee back in 2004, Elin Warn Betanzo was part of the initial EPA response to the DC Lead Crisis. In 2022 the Council of the District of Columbia asked Safe Water Engineering to provide an independent validation of DC Water’s Lead Service Line Removal Plan. This evaluation identified opportunities to replace 14,000 additional lead service lines, provide filters proactively to all homes with suspected lead service lines to prevent lead exposure during the replacement program, while saving millions of dollars. The reports from this project are presented here. All of these resources have been written or contributed to by Safe Water Engineering.
