These kids asked me to teach them about lead in water, then they came up with this innovative concept for speeding up lead service line replacement programs. If we can use their lead pipe detecting worm-bot to find all the lead pipes, we can save a lot of money and provide safer drinking water.

Protecting Drinking Water in the Great Lakes States

With increased attention on localized public health concerns related to drinking water, it is up to everyone to learn where their drinking water comes from; understand what consumer confident reports tell us; and advocate for improvements in laws, regulations, and policies that directly affect the safety of our drinking water. We also need to better understand where our influence and advocacy efforts are needed.

Improvements Needed to the Public Notification Rule Following Hurricane Maria

After Hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico in September of 2017, it took months before public water systems had electricity restored and were able to distribute safe drinking water to the public again. This public health emergency highlighted several opportunities to provide more reliable information to the public about the status of their drinking water during a natural disaster.
